Developed during a stay at Rancho Chijilte, in the Highlands of Chiapas, the series originates from the prolonged observation of a small flower that grows among vines which, as they expand, create a spontaneous vegetal tapestry within the surrounding landscape. What in everyday experience appears as an almost imperceptible element becomes, in Olman’s painting, the center of a visual exploration.
Through watercolor—historically associated with immediacy and the capture of the ephemeral—the artist performs a gesture of perceptual amplification: an extreme proximity that transforms the flower’s minute scale into an immersive pictorial field.
